Considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof I Robert Jackways of the Parish of Nailsea in the county of Somerset Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say)first I will and direct that all my just debts my funerall expences and the costs and charges of proving my will be paid by my executor hereinafter named out of my personal estate I give and devise unto my beloved wife Anne Jackways all those messuages or tenements buildings gardens lands heredits and premises which I am now possessed of situate at Nailsea aforesaid or elsewhere and all the Issues and Profits thereof for and during the term of her natural life she keeping the said messuages or tenements buildings and premises in good and tenantable repair and at her decease provided I should have no children begotten on the body of the said Ann Hodges I give and devise unto my beloved children as follows To my son Robert Jackways his heirs and assigns for ever all that piece or parcel of land or Ground now in the occupation of Joseph May Yeoman and situate at Nailsea aforesaid containing by estimation one acre or the same more or less To my Daughter Martha Jackways her heirs and assigns for ever all that messuage or tenement buildings garden heredits and Premises I now reside in and occupy at Nailsea aforesaid To my daughter Hanna Jackways her heirs and assigns for ever that messuage or tenement buildings garden heredits and Premises now in the occupation of Isaac Crew Labourer and situate at Nailsea aforesaid after my said Wife’s decease should there be any Child or Children alive who has been begotten by me as aforesaid then I will and direct my Executor within three Calendar months after the decease of my said wife shall and do sell or cause to be sold all my said freehold property so otherwise given and devised to my said Children now alive for the best price or prices that can be gotten or obtained for the same the money arising therefrom or thereby after payment shall be made for all the costs charges and expences incurred by my said executor by or on account of such sale pay or apply equally to and amongst my said Child and Children now alive which may hereafter be obtained as aforesaid share and share alike for their use and benefit and all the costs of proving this my will as aforesaid I give and bequeath unto my said wife also my money which shall be in my possession and also debts which shall be due and owing to me by any person or persons and likewise what I shall be entitled to from or have deposited in any public fund or other place at the time of my decease and also all my household furniture wearing apparel jewels plate securities for money and all other my personal estate and effects wheresoever situate at the time of my decease to and for her sole use and benefit and as her own proper monies goods and chattels absolutely and I do hereby nominate and appoint John Miles of the parish of Long Ashton in the said County of Somerset Gentleman to be sole Executor of this my Will by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my last will and testament and I direct you three to Witness it In Witness whereof I the said Robert Jackways have to the sheet of paper preceding this affixed my hand and to this sheet my hand and seal this ninth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty
